About Restoring Balance

Restoring Balance Yoga and Massage was founded and is run by Deborah Kennedy. Through Deborah’s experience, training and qualifications she is well placed to not only provide inspirational yoga, and therapeutic massage but overall service to clients.

Her professional and life experience gives her a sensitivity to clients’ needs and an empathy and understanding of factors which influence their health and wellbeing.

For Deborah, there is no ‘one size fits all’ treatment at Restoring Balance. In her massage, she intuitively draws from her repertoire of …. techniques and understanding of people’s needs to ensure that both physiological and emotional considerations are met. The same is true of her approach to teaching yoga and movement classes and, similarly, she caters sensitively to the needs of the individual within the class.

Continual professional development is important to her and she applies herself to practical study with fellow therapists as well as undertaking certified courses. She strives to ensure her personal development, always growing and responding to the needs of her clients.

A message from Deborah…

Massage, physical activity and wellbeing are my passion and vocation and in the appropriate application of bodywork and therapeutic exercise I have seen many people recover from pain, injury and limitations in movement as well as improve their posture, health and sense of wellbeing.

I am in a very privileged position to work full time at Restoring Balance, helping people to achieve the full potential of their bodies to pursue their passion. This is the most rewarding part of my job.

Since qualifying from Jordanhill with an honours degree in Sport In The Community in 1999, I have enjoyed a long and broad career in physical activity and health promotion.

In 2009 I began my training in massage with the prestigious Western School gaining firstly a diploma in Swedish Massage, and in 2011, a diploma in Sports & Remedial Massage. Between 2012-2020 I grew and nurtured my business, Restoring Balance at Hillhead Sports Club.

During this time I provided Sports Massage to our Scottish athletes through the Scottish Institute For Sport and teach Les Mills Body Balance which is a mind/body exercise class.

2020, ‘the unprecedented year’ hailed lockdown for my sector. I was unable to return to my treatment room at Hillhead Sports Club. Thankfully I was able to continue teaching yoga over the internet.

Lockdown presented me with two options; to shrink or to grow!

I found The Studio, Unit 19 at Harmony Row and immediately saw the potential to sustain the massage arm of Restoring Balance while growing the movement arm. In time I plan to expand into a complement of services which support people’s well-being.

I am so excited about the future for Restoring Balance. We are developing a team of amazing instructors who love people, love what they do and love to share what they love.

Change is not something that we should fear. Rather, it is something that we should welcome. For without change, nothing in this world would ever grow or blossom, and no one in this world would ever move forward to become the person they’re meant to be.
